It's hard to believe that 25 years have passed since we wore our light blue caps and gowns and left St. Mary's to embark on new adventures. We've gotten married and divorced, gained weight, earned degrees, lost weight, created new families, raised pets, worked inside and outside our homes, achieved success, traveled the world, stayed close to home, overcome obstacles, endured losses, strengthened our faith, served our country, made countless brownies for bake sales, driven in carpools, climbed the corporate ladder, started our own companies, pursued - and continue to pursue - dreams. Among us, we've done it all!

Here's our chance to catch up a little before we get to the reunion. Please take some time to tell us the highlights of your past 25 years. Where did you go on to school? What do you most enjoy doing now? Do you work outside the home? Where have you traveled? What is one thing you still dream of doing? What is your best memory of St. Mary's? We can't wait to hear from you!

Send us a current photo, too, if you can. Feel free to include a photo of you with your family. My partner Lori and I have two kids age 9 and 7. I have been a lawyer for 17 years and practice in the bankruptcy field. We love the out of doors and spend our summers watching the kids play baseball and traveling and camping. It is a good life. I have good memories of SMA and the really great friends. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion.

I will never grow up, I will never grow up! Oh wait, it’s happened…and it’s really been quite a fun journey! Following graduation from Marquette in '84 I attended Arizona State University pursuing what I hoped would be a Master’s in Speech Pathology. Recklessly answering a call to head even further west in search of adventure I ended up in So. California where I met a local surfer boy named Jeff (who is actually an aerospace engineer in real life). As vacations go, I guess it was a good one as we will be married 17 years this November. Somewhere along the line I abandoned plans to work as a Speech Pathologist, ending up in pharmaceuticals (the legal variety). Today I hold the position of Strategy & Business Development Manager for SICOR Pharmaceuticals Inc. My work has taken me to wonderful places, both domestically and abroad! In August 2004 I completed my MBA from Pepperdine University, fulfilling a dream of heading back to school after nearly twenty years! What an amazing (and humbling) experience it was, with the culmination of my studies taking me to both Oxford University and the University of Antwerp in the Spring of 2004, completing capstone courses in European and Middle-Eastern Economics and Global Leadership. Today Jeff and I live in Lake Forest, CA with our four-legged kids, Kona and Cabo and enjoy a myriad of activities including golf, travel, wine-tasting (beer for Jeff), entertaining, beach activities and most recently, motorcycle riding. (Yup, it’s a Harley – but I don’t drive – I just hang on for dear life!) Apparently you can take the girl out of Milwaukee but you can’t take the Harley-Davidson out of the girl! This past weekend we participated in our first major organized ride – a fund raiser for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation wherein there were over 2000 cycles registered – and I had the time of my life! (Again!!) I am really looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the Reunion! Only God knows how much fun a bunch of crazy forty-something women turned loose in the city will have!

I have been married for almost 14 years to Elmer Guerrero who I met on a blind date. His career has taken us to the Navajo Reservation in the NE corner of Arizona to the SE panhandle of Alaska. We have lived in Ketchikan for 12 years (this June). I have been blessed with two great children, Matthew and Melinda. After Melinda was born I decided to be a Stay at home mom (SAHM) until after she is in school full-time. That will happen this fall and I don't know if I'll be ready to go back to work. I look forward to making the trip back to Milwaukee for the reunion to catch of with old friends who I haven't seen in person in a very long time.

From mary kay:
After my "Glory Days" at SMA I went to the University of Dayton in Ohio for a Bachelor Degree in Foods & Nutrition, then continued at Oklahoma State to complete a Dietetic Internship and Master's Degree specializing in Food Service Administration. I worked in Texas for a few years, first in Dallas opening Embassy Suite Hotels, then with Marriott south of Houston. I met the Craigster at Oklahoma State while he was pursuing a degree in Veterinary Medicine. In 1988, we got married at St. Rita's and partied at the Grain Exchange in Milwaukee before moving to Bakersfield, California. We come back every year at Christmas and also spend 8 weeks of summer at our lake home in Northern Minnesota. Can not take the midwest out of the girl! Craig and I also have been blessed with two beautiful boys only by the grace of God after I had a brief illness. I was working in health care and then School Nutrition before committing to my family for the Millenium in 2000. ( I was not a quitter and too young to retire!). I am amazed at all the grandparents in our class, as I am still back at 1st and 3rd grade with my boys! I keep busy running the kids to sports, assisting at school, teaching religious education at church (yes, Virginia, sometimes Catholic girls start much too late!) and taking a few consulting jobs when I get bored. Just remember, whatever point we are at in the cycle of life, we are bound by one thing, together we became Academy Babes of the 80's, Beautiful, Accepted, Blessed and Eternally Significant to God and those we meet along the way! Look forward to meeting up with all again in July, plaid, or no plaid!

How amazing that 25 years can happen in the blink of an eye! I graduated from Valparaiso University in December 1983 with a BA in English and Political Science, thinking I'd be pursuing a degree in law or education. Hasn't happened yet, but someday!! My husband, Steve, and I met in a class in August 1981, we were engaged in March 1982, and married July 7, 1984. We've mostly lived in the Midwest and I've had a variety of writing, editing and marketing jobs (newspaper, magazine, fashion copywriting, boutique hotel) while raising four truly wonderful kids! Steve, who has a masters in International Management and currently works as a senior manager for Capgemini's Technology Strategy Group, led our family on a grand adventure as we lived in Munich, Germany, from Jan. 1996 through July 1997. We had a fabulous time traveling throughout Europe! We all miss the beauty, elegance, and tranquility of that lifestyle and hope to move back there one day. My daughter, Michelle (18), graduates in June and will attend Valpo in the fall majoring in Psychology and Theatre. John (16) is a soccer-stud soph (with a black belt in Tang Soo Do), Matthew (12) is a sixth-grader who enjoys track and field, and Claire (almost 10) just loves life (as well as gymnastics)! All my children inherited their father's musical talents, so we spend a lot of time at various choral, band, and orchestra concerts. When I'm not at a concert or play or working on a school or church committee or chauffeuring kids somewhere, I'm working for Asset Verification, Inc., handling our marketing, helping to run the day-to-day operations, and counseling clients on insurance and appraisal issues. We have one dog, a black miniature poodle named Hollibelle. My dad passed away in 1989, but my mom still lives in Milwaukee and can run circles around me! Life is not perfect, but we are blessed and God is good ALL the time!

Occupation:  Laboratory Manager

From MaryBeth:
It’s hard to believe its been 25 years since we left the halls of SMA and 21 years since I left Milwaukee. Although life has allowed me to relocate and travel extensively, somehow my mantra has always been “You can take the Girl out of Wisconsin but you can’t take the Wisconsin out of the Girl”. The highlights of the past years include: graduating from Marquette with a B. S. in Medical Technology, moving to Northern Virginia where I worked at a large Reference Laboratory, marrying Ron Hess (TM 80) and moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico. My laboratory career, which has included both hospital and two different Commercial laboratories, has always allowed me to grow and gain new skills. I’ve held positions including Facilitator for TQM, Quality Assurance Co-ordinator and Technical Specialist. In 1998, I was involved in the consolidation and creation of a new laboratory corporation becoming Project Manager of the new 95,000 sq. ft building. My current position is the Manager of the Automated Lab of the largest Reference Laboratory in NM. Ron and I love to travel and spend much of our free time doing just that. Being avid “Water sports enthusiasts” and Race Fans our travels have taken us numerous places with both old and new friends. Its hard to believe that in less than 5 years Ron will be ready to retire from his current career. We are currently looking for property for our dream home in the Phoenix /Fountain Hills area. Who knows what adventures lie ahead. Having an excuse to visit Milwaukee and re-connect with old friend’s sounds like a great time. I look forward to seeing you all!
